Tea , one of the most famous beverages has a very interesting History which any one would like to know. Tea was first ever evolved in the year 2737 B.C in China. It so happened that the Chinese emperor Shen Nung was taking a tour of his kingdom with his servant. After few hours of long tour , the emperor was so tired and he sat beneath a bush and ordered his servant to boil some water for him to drink. As the servant was boiling water a leaf from those bush fell down in to that water, Shen Nung tried the brew and he liked it a lot. The bush was of camellia sinensis , now which is known by TEA all across the world.
Chinese monk were the first to distribute the knowledge of this soothing drink cultivation all across the world. Between 618-907 Tea was the national drink of China. Chinese monk use to cultivate the tea plant in the Chinese royal palaces.
Now it was time for this precious drink to travel towards Europe. It was the Persian trader hajji Muhammad who first noticed this drink and spread its knowledge around Europe. He told Venetian author Giambattista Ramusio about this precious drink and the way it is being cultivated in China.
By 1619 Holland was in trade with china. Holland was the first country to have tea trade with china. Soon in 1644 British established their trade with China. They use to import a huge amount of this drink as it was being liked by large scale of society there in Britain.
By 17th century Tea started gaining over popularity and the rate went high . It was being smuggled in various parts of the world, but slowly many countries came forward and started tea production of their own. Ultimately in 1834 the reduction in tax on tea made it a comfortable drink for the common mass.
